Introduction: A poem for a friend who turned out to be a traitor. A snake I was feeding with my own hands. A person who used me and then accused me of using her — who cut all ties just because she could never become the person I had become.
I don’t always choose the right path,
but I hope there’s something
beautiful and good in the way I try.
PEOPLE YOU KNOW –
Yes, I made a mistake.
But you could’ve asked.
Instead, you chose to summon me
for the reasons not all true.
You forgot my whole existence.
Or maybe you never understood, though
I wish I could undo
not that silly mistake,
the love I poured for you.
And what hurts the most is
you devoured it all
as if you needed that to live.
I burnt my hand,
so I could keep you warm.
And you blamed me
for those ugly scars.
Though you loved the warmth.
Every time I thought about it,
any kind of exception,
God shows me why not.
Yes, I’m that dumb-ass
who always forgets her lessons.
Moral: Even the closest people can betray you in the most unexpected way. Be careful while choosing your circle. Never let anyone disrespect you — cut them off without guilt.
Explanation: The poem revolves around a one-sided friendship that turned into betrayal. The poet expresses how her love and loyalty were used and then blamed. Every effort was undone in a single misunderstanding, and her worth was denied altogether. This is not just a poem but a wound penned down.
